Pictures with almost every recipe including showing how to make. Problems are: written for a British audience, many ingredients use British terms, such as aubergines (eggplant) terasi (shrimp paste), lengkuas (galangal) and mange tout (peas with edible pods such as snap peas or snow peas) all ingredients are given in both British and US measurements. also, many recipes are only identified by the area (Africa, Caribbean) although some are country specific. I wish they had had a better country or area ID. Some of the recipes have difficult to find ingredients and no substitutions listed. I did substitute fish paste for the shrimp paste in one recipe and used fresh ginger for the galangal in another.
This is a great idea book with some many varied recipes it really is hard to choose where to start. The main nock on this book so far is that there are some recipes that just are not very yummy. We have cooked 20 out of the book so far with a success rate of about 15 good a 5 not very good at all. The second this is that sometimes in order to fit all directions on one page they seem to cut off short or make them confusing. So you have to read multiple times and guess about what they actually want you to do.

Got here on time, it has a lot of great recipes in it. My in-laws travel all over the world, so I thought this might be interesting for them. It was in perfect condition when I got it.
I check this book at the libarary and then went and bought it from amazon, Great book and right on the money with its receipes. My family loves food with flavors and taste. I recommend this one who wants to explore the world with this book
The top thing I like about this book is each section has something for everybody. It has meat dishes, vegetarian dishes, and deserts from each of the areas that it covers. Some of the terminology is different but that's easy enough to do a quick search for.
Excellent gift for a friend who enjoys true ethnic cuisine
Lots of pictures, easy to follow cook book. But recipes seem to be lack of quality.
