I thought the content interesting but there were severe deficiencies in the use of maps and images.The Texas maps were so small as to be almost useless. Many images of Texas and the SW looked likecheap screen-captures from GoogleEarth--taken from a vantage point above the Gulf of Mexico-causing a skewed view angle.Maps and images of geographic areas should be from Directly-Above ...Not at skewed angles.The subject matter dictates the use of quality maps and images. The size is 9x10" , but should havebeen formatted to a 10 x12" size minimum. The bookmaker did use good quality paper. I expected something i could use as a resource but it won't be this one. It's almost like they forgot how to make books. I do not recommend and would not buy this book.

Very informative, clearly written book with loads and loads of great maps.I would give it five stars if it had more pictures of some of the landscapes they refer to. For example, there is a chapter on The Big Thicket but there are no pictures of the land there so it's difficult to connect with sometimes.

Fabulous. As Texans, myy husband and I were drawn to the information in this wonderful book. I have already ordered copies for friends that are interested in our land and the conservation of it. Well written, lots of pictures and maps. Great stories that fascinate the reader. Interesting data without being too technical. This book is a gift to the state of Texas. Thank you Mr. Todd

As a land owner, raising bison, and trying to restore the native tall prairie grasses, including prescribed fires, and as president of our county water improvement district, I find this book rather useful and of course interesting. Just opened it yesterday and read the chapter on bison. If all the chapters are of this quality I'd say the book is a must own for Texans. Could have added some bison genetics from Dr Derr's research at A&M though. That being said the book could be endless in content for such a diverse state, but have to stop somewhere.

I have taken the time to turn through this book page by page, and as a native Texas, I have found it to be amazing. An atlas supreme! I want to thank the authors, the researchers, the publishers, and the ones who financed it. A copy needs to be in every school, plus other public places where people need info about this huge and diversified state.

I was sorry that the book didn't mention the fact that we have established 60+ wildlife sanctuaries and botanical preserves in E.
