In my review for Super Powereds: Year 1, I wrote about how astonished I was to discover a book that was just. that. good. This series might not have sounded like my thing at first, but I decided to give it a shot based on the strength of Hayes's writing in one of his other books (NPCs, which, incidentally, I recommend). I'm so glad I did; SP1 was long and involved and meaty and totally riveting.I've read lots of decent books lately, and several darn good ones, but seriously: it was stay-up-till-1-a.m.-even-though-you-have-to-get-up-in-four-hours riveting.I'm pleased to report that SP2 is just as wonderful. All of the things I loved about the first one continued seamlessly. Love the characters, love the story, love the complexity and the intricacies and the length, and I have to say, I'm super-impressed by how well the author does intrigue.I feel the need to comment on the reviews that refer to the poor editing. For real, I hate badly-edited books. They don't just distract me, they actually have started to make me angry - angry at the author for thinking he or she has any right to collect my money for a slipshod product. Here? I just don't see it. Yes, there were some mistakes. (Not the all-too-common "this author has absolutely no idea how to wield an apostrophe" mistakes, but more like typos. Missing words, the occasional "too" instead of "to," that kind of thing.) I didn't find them particularly numerous or distracting, though. I can't decide if it's because there really aren't that many errors or if it's just that I was so enraptured by the story that they slipped past my vigilance, but...bad editing aggravates me. This book didn't aggravate me at all. Just the opposite, in fact.If you've started the Super Powereds series with book one, I doubt you need any recommendation to finish it. If you liked it, you'll like this one just as much. If it wasn't your cup of tea (which I have a hard time imagining), whatever bugged you about it is probably going to be in this one too. If you haven't read SP1, I really really recommend it; I thought both it and this book were outstanding.

I loved the 1st book the second book have it's moments. I understand this is a web series, the particular frame of how it was written for that. My problem with this book was giving life to the additional characters. Characters such as Blaine and his flashbacks, Will and Jill, Chad, Shane and Angela, Alex and Selena etc. Instead of slowly easing them in to the story it just starts their story. 1st book was about the main Five former powered. In this book it felt more of the main Five and a sprinkle of friends. Take Camille for instance she was integrated nicely into the series. Then you have Stella, Thomas, and Violet slowly being eased in. You give a little of them so I actually cared about their development. Then you slam an emotional story of Alex and Selena. Alex I pretty much knew a bit about but not taken an interest in his character or even Selena for that matter, let alone Allan who I know nothing about aside from his power. Then the fight in the finals between Alex against Selena and Jill, their thoughts or the emotion behind Alex and Selena were lost to me I didn't care because that chapter was way in the past.Either then that it is a really good book needs better editing and a better frame work though. This is my review I recommend you read it but just expect Characters aside from the main Five pop up in your face, oh and also Zeros flashbacks.

Why wait? For a low cost, you can buy a complete, four book series... you don't have to wait for the last book to come out. This is a great book and a great series. In the Sophomore Year, the kids who had the procedure that let them control their abilities... they're outed, and the natural supers who could control their abilities don't like it too much.This book sees several of the sophomores make big strides towards controlling and expanding their powers, and it adds interesting new teachers and classes.Upcoming big reveals in books 3 and 4 are teased, but this book stands on it's own.Imagine The Incredibles meets Harry Potter (at college) meets Common Sense and Logic in the best possible way. The world building is at least as good as The Incredibles and the way the Hero Certification Program is set up makes way more sense than the way things are managed in the aforementioned big hits. I liked The Incredibles and Harry Potter, but this series is more adult, better, with characters that earn more respect from the reader.

I'm not sure if Super Powereds (actually given the underlying premise of the story I think that the title should read "Super/Powered" Year whatever) is a YA series or just a damn good Superhero Prose Novel series.There's no doubt that it is indeed damn good.Hayes captures some really interesting characters and builds some very engaging character moments in the two mega novels released thus far. For Kindle books they are freaking huge, and while I enjoy having the entire story of a class year told in one edition, its a long ride to the end of this roller coaster.The characters, particularly Vince, Camille and Nick are unique and in some ways inspiring.Hayes knows how to stretch the mystery out and keep it from becoming frustrating to the reader.I still want to know what Nick is planning.There are some nagging details that kinda bug me as I read. Hayes never really gets into the nuts and bolts of how his characters powers are and how they work. There are some hints and flashes throughout the book but there are also annoying little asides thrown in that cast doubt in the readers mind as to whether the character image you've been developing in your head is accurate.Be that as it may, Super/Powered-Year 2 is a damn fine read. It gives every character a moment to shine and more than a few moments to agonize over the choices that they make.Highly recommended and far superior to any of that Divergent crapfest.
